Does the Self-host tier really get every feature? +

Yes — the engine is one codebase. Cloud just operates it for you. Self-host has zero feature flags and is the same binary we run in production.

Why AGPL? +

AGPL keeps the open-source version protected: companies can self-host freely, and any modifications shipped to users have to be open-sourced too. If you ship RedDB inside a closed-source product, get a commercial license from us.

When does Cloud Starter start charging? +

During private beta it is free for design partners. Pricing is being co-designed with them and will be announced before any charge. Founding customers keep beta pricing.

Can I move from Cloud back to self-host? +

Yes. Backups are exported to your S3 bucket and the file format is the same. There is no proprietary fork.
